  • APEC SEN - NTOU Workshop: Onboard Training to Foster Competent Young Future Maritime Global Leaders

    The APEC SEN-NTOU Workshop on Onboard Training to Foster Competent Young Future Maritime Global Leaders was held virtually on August 11, 2021, with 73 participants from 14 APEC member and non-member economies. The discussion meticulously encompassed the comprehensive spectrum of necessary aspects to be taken into account for the successful implementation of the onboard training programs (phase 3 of TPT 03 2019A Onboard Training to Foster Competent Young Future Maritime Global Leaders), which includes cadets’ training and assessment system, training curriculums, training record books, women empowerment, and more.

    The workshop kicked off with the opening addresses by the NTOU (National Taiwan Ocean University) President Tai-Wen Hsu, followed by congratulatory remarks from APEC SEN Secretary-General Dong-Jae Lee.

    In continuation, the discussion session commenced with opening remarks from the APEC SEN Expert Group 1 Chair, Dr. Jinsoo Park. Under the excellent leadership of Dr. Jinsoo Park, the discussions surrounded the professional inputs delivered by the key speakers of the workshop, who are Det Norske Verita (DNV) Principal Surveyor Mr. Edward Wen-Jen Wu, Dr. Jiunn-Liang Guo, Capt. Anwar Buftain from GMarine Ltd, and Mr. Milhar Fauazudeen from FINMAR Consultants Ltd.

    We sincerely thank all speakers and participants for the fruitful discussion that has brought this workshop to success. Substantively, a special appreciation goes out to NTOU (National Taiwan Ocean University) for enabling this engaging and insightful workshop.
